US military bolt action rifle manufactured circa 1922. Reworked circa 1942 for use in WWII. Features parkerized finish, walnut shoulder stock with straight wrist and grasping grooves, walnut handguard, 24" barrel, blade front sight with clip-on protective hood, base for ladder type rear sight mounted at rear of barrel (rear sight removed, base modified, would need to be replaced to install an original rear sight), receiver bridge drilled & tapped and click-adjustable Redfield rear peep sight installed, bent bolt handle, manual safety, magazine cut-off switch, sling swivels, stacking swivel, butt trap with hinged cover (Metal oiler and bore pull-thru in buttstock) smooth flat steel buttplate. Milled stock hardware. Bore is fair to good condition, strong rifling with light pitting throughout. Retains 90% finish, with sight edge wear, friction wear on the bolt/extractor. Some parts show color variations. Stock is good or better condition, lightly sanded, slight loss to sharp edges of grasping grooves, some oil staining, dents & dings throughout. Barrel marked "RA / (flaming bomb) / 8-42". Stock markings include "P" in circle. Front sight cover stamped 'P' in circle. Comes with fair condition brown leather two-hook sling.
