Historic gold-filled pocket watch by Elgin National Watch Co. inscribed on the inner cover “To Col. W. F. Cody Buffalo Bill The Wild West From the Denver Post 1905” with outer covers showing scroll engraving and atrain engine on one side and fancy scrolling on the other side with center period engraved “WFC” in overall fine condition; excellent face and body, mechanism partially working at time of description and may just need acleaning by a competent watchmaker. This watch was first offered by legendary dealer Theodore Dexter in a catalog in 1964; it was later sold in February, 1974 by Sotheby Parke Bernet in Los Angeles and was out of thefamous M. C.
