This is an example of an early first year production Colt Model 1851 Navy squareback trigger guard revolver. The top barrel flat is marked with the one line New York City address, "COLTS/PATENT" is stamped on the left side of the frame, and the cylinder has the navy scene along with "COLTS PATENT No 124". The revolver has an un-numbered arbor pin with remaining numbers matching. The barrel wedge screw is correctly under the wedge, a feature found only on the earliest production revolvers. The three-screw frame has no capping groove. A small letter "T" is stamped on the right trigger guard shoulder. Fitted with a one piece walnut grip.

Condition: Very good. The revolver has a smooth dark patina with traces of faded original blue finish on the barrel. There is some very scattered light pitting. Much of the cylinder scene remains. The brass has a smooth patina with strong traces of original silver plating around the trigger guard. The period revarnished grip is good with a repaired chip and some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
