Heavy Barrel, half stock transition “Kentucky” to plains rifle marked F. Lehman, Lancaster PA on breech of barrel and lock with maker’s signature L. Biddle on top flat of barrel. The heavy barrel measures 34-1/4”, the rifle measures 49-3/4” overall. Heavy octagon barrel measures approx .38 caliber, rifled and measures 1-1/16” across the muzzle. The forend and barrel appear to be set back slightly or reduced. The stock shows a good natural striping with many engraved German Silver inlays and an oval shaped German Silver patchbox. The top of the comb is sheathed in German Silver and the rifle shows German Silver buttplate, toeplate, triggerguard, and mounts. With a fine engraved American eagle on inlay, which is just above the cheekpiece. The rifle shows at least 21 German Silver inlays in fish, scrolls, leaves, arrows, etc. The stock is good with a couple of compression cracks in the forend, some slight darkening, normal use, some slight scorching from getting too near the camp fire by the triggerguard, normal handling and carry. The rear sight has been changed to a more modern sight and needs to be corrected, however the dovetail is not enlarged and is an easy fix. The action is good,
