Colt Single Action Army revolver U.S. Cavalry series, .45 caliber, 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, serial #16666. A very interesting Colt Single Action Army revolver that was probably factory or arsenal refurbished in the Spanish-American war era. Cylinder shows numbers stamped on back of cylinder “666”, and also a light original stamping on face of cylinder with same numbers indicating refurbishing. The barrel shows a “C” inspection for casing, and also a “C” inspection beneath the triggerguard. The rear triggerguard bow shows a large “T”, and the front of the triggerguard bow shows a diamond-shape factory post-1900 stamp. The hammer is a post-1900 hammer with polished sides and blued back. The barrel shows approx. 20-40% drifting original blue. The ejector rod housing shows 30-50% drifting blue drifting to brown and some erosion and pinprick pitting. The frame shows 20-40% case hardening, the backstrap and triggerguard show 90% bright blue. The grips fit impeccably showing no cartouches or marks whatsoever and are military type. The barrel address is sharp, the US and patent dates slightly light. The action is good, the bore is good.
