Authentic French and Indian War Period carved map horn by identified Pointed Tree Carver, circa 1758 to 1764. The horn measures approx. 12” from tip across the base. The horn retains its original plus, and metal staple with brass hangar. A hand-carved period stopper is included. The neck of the horn shows damage and period repairs with leather and cord. The horn shows the British crest, windmills, the City of New York, forts, H. Moon, Fort Sillwater with small fort, Fort Johnston, Fort Saratoga, other names, buildings that are not quite legible, Canada Creek, Lake ON, The Three Rivers, many pointed trees, terminating in Lake Ontario and Fort Ticonderoga, Lake George, Wood Creek, other locations that are not quite legible, a well carved fort at bottom near New York with British warship flying flag into harbor, the city of Albany, and other information. The horn shows a great patina and a lot of wear and carry. Some smoothing on the back, and about 80-85% of carving still well legible. Some small bites or losses. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries.
