Antique French Double-Barrel Boxlock Pinfire Pocket Pistol, NVSN, approx. 9mm cal., 4'' barrel group with pin front sight on central rib, marked with ''E'' over what appears to be ''crossed-swords'' proof marks at both breeches; square-section steel frame has double boxlock hammers, a swivel latch beneath to release the tip-up barrels, double folding triggers that automatically drop open when hammers are cocked, integral grip straps, scroll engraving overall, marked ''Plotton Fels'' on right beneath barrels and ''St Etienne'' on left; one-piece ebonized European hardwood grips have long carved flutes terminating in a fluted steel buttcap with lanyard ring. Condition is very good. Metal surfaces retain no original finish but are a smooth gunmetal gray tone (barrels may have originally had a Damascus pattern); all edges, engraving and markings are sharp. Grips are sound and smooth with 50% original ebony varnish. Actions are smooth and operate correctly; bores are bright with light etching toward muzzles and deep rifling; barrel locks up tightly. Est.: $350-$500. (Antique)
