American handmade under hammer cane gun with detachable shoulder stock, under hammer design, in percussion ignition, circa about 1850-1860s. The cane portion measures 31-5/8", 45-1/2" overall with stock attached. The barrel is approximately .44 cal. smooth bore. The barrel unscrews at the breech and the under hammer mechanism is very simple, whereas the trigger acts as a sear to hold the hammer when cocked, similar to NewEngland guns. The wood is stained a reddish color and is a soft wood, possibly pine, with brass sheet fittings on stock secured by screws. A simply made gun by a rural gunsmith or workshop made. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries. International buyers agree to pay all cost incurred including all shipping, insurance, exporter fees, all custom and duty fees associated with shipment. Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence. All Federal, State and Local Regulations apply and MUST be strictly followed.
