(Chambers/Warner Bros., 2012) A life mask of legendary makeup artist John Chambers that was used as a background prop on the set of "Argo." John Chambers revolutionized movie makeup, and many of the developments he came up with in the 1950s and 1960s are still in use today. John Goodman portrayed Chambers in “Argo,” and several actual artifacts from Chambers’ makeup career appeared as props in the film. Life masks are commonly taken of actors for film and television productions to create makeup appliances, and Chambers took this cast of himself in his mid-30s, likely about the same time as the hand casts (Lot 7) dated 1955. This life mask was likely cast from the original mold especially for the 2012 film. The plaster mask measures 11.5" x 6.5" x 5.25" deep and is in very good to fine condition with one small scuff.
