GAME GUN WITH EXTRA BARRELS & CASE. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4" (BOTH). S# 79347. Two barrel sets; one 27", the other 28". Each have matching semi-raised matted game ribs with "Auguste Francotte" "Brevete A Liege" engraved on tops. 28" barrels do not have a date code and are stamped with Belgian nitro proofs for 2-1/2" chambers. Crowned "AF" marks are present on flats. 27" barrels are stamped for 2-3/4" chambers and with 1925 date code. "AF" marks are not present. Coin finish sideplated boxlock action features automatic safety, Purdey type hidden third fastener, side clips and double triggers. Action is engraved with about 70% coverage varying sized simple scroll. No maker's name is present. Straight grip buttstock of well marbled and lightly figured European walnut measures 14-5/8" over Silver type pad. Closely spaced point pattern checkering is at grip and a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Splinter ejector forend has Anson release and checkering pattern does not match buttstock. Case contains a pair of snap caps. CONDITION: good to fine as partially refinished. Both barrel sets retaining about 90% of a good quality but not matching re-blue. Action retains most of its French gray which shows light cleaning. Buttstock retains what appears to be its original finish with a fair number of marks and scratches. Wood of forend appears to have been replaced, workmanship is quite good, checkering pattern does not match. Sling loops are removed from barrels, holes plugged. A plugged hole is also on toeline. All bores are bright and shiny without any noted problems. 28" barrel chambers lengthened. Action is tight with both barrel sets. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case is good, with many bumps and marks. Interior cloth is soiled and has some panels replaced. Handle is detached and inside case. (24-4032/MGM). CURIO. $2,500-4,000.
